We all know that TFFJ (Gustaf III Airport) is one of the most challenging airports in the world. Its short runway and mountain terrain make it a nightmare for even the most experienced pilots. But today, I decided to push the limits and attempted to land a massive EVA Air B747 at this iconic location.
The Challenge:
Bringing a jumbo jet into a runway designed for small aircraft is a recipe for chaos. As I approached the runway, the massive size of the B747 compared to the narrow tarmac made it clear that this was going to be an intense landing.
The “Landing”:
As you can see from the photos, things did not go exactly as planned! Attempting to put such a large aircraft on TFFJ resulted in a dramatic arrival. The nose of the plane ended up burying itself into the tarmac, proving once and for all that some giants just aren’t meant for such tight spaces.
Lessons from the Cockpit:
This landing was a humbling (and hilarious) reminder of why airport restrictions exist. While the landing was far from perfect, it was a fantastic test of physics and flight mechanics in Microsoft Flight Simulator. These kinds of experiments are exactly what make flight simulation so much fun.
